Airport operator

Delivering the airport

The Australian Government is delivering the Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport (WSI) at Badgerys Creek via a government-owned company, Western Sydney Airport Co Limited (WSA Co). The Government has committed up to $5.3 billion to deliver the airport.

The company was formally established on 7 August 2017, with an experienced board, chaired by Mr Paul O'Sullivan. Mr O'Sullivan is joined by six directors on the Board.

Construction of the airport commenced in 2018. Throughout the construction phase, WSA Co will contract expertise from the private sector construction market.

While WSA Co is responsible for building the airport, the Department will continue its regulatory oversight of the project, ensure compliance with conditions in the Airport Plan, and coordinate the flight path design process.
