Delivering the airport
The Australian Government has announced it will deliver the Western Sydney Airport at Badgerys Creek. A government-owned company, called WSA Co, will build the airport.
WSA Co was formally established on 7 August 2017, with an experienced board, chaired by Mr Paul O'Sullivan. Mr O'Sullivan is joined by six directors on the Board and a high-quality management team will soon be appointed.
The Government has committed up to $5.3 billion for WSA Co to deliver the airport.
Construction is expected to commence next year. Throughout the construction phase, WSA Co will contract expertise from the private sector construction market. Procurement for enabling activities is underway. The Expression of Interest for the first package of the main airport works program is planned for release to market in early February 2018. More information is available at wsaco.com.au/project/business.aspx.
While WSA Co is responsible for building the airport, the Department will continue its regulatory oversight of the project, ensure compliance with conditions in the Airport Plan, and coordinate the flight path design process.
